LIVE CONSORTIUM helps break down the stigma barriers that prevent individuals from associating with HIV. As stigma is reduced, individuals will begin to associate with the virus. The result: more people will seek treatment and prevention methods will again become relevant.

VISION

LIVE CONSORTIUM is unique in its ability to create a new image of health and wellness, regardless of HIV status, in which all people can identify. Through the symbol of “the diver”, LIVE CONSORTIUM will exemplify breaking through the barriers that divide people and prevent them from living full and vital lives.

Specifically, LIVE CONSORTIUM will teach awareness of stigmatization, disseminate accurate, research-based information on healthy living, urge public policy development that provides for prevention and healthcare for all people, and assist people in accessing other public/private resources and services that they need.

HIV Anti-Stigma Initiative 2009-2010

In 2008, due to the latest statistics stating 50% of new HIV infections in the United States occur in the age group of 15 -24 year olds and that the percentage of new HIV infections in Houston was twice the national average, LIVE Consortium, Inc. is dedicated to fight the stigma that surrounds HIV, help prevent new HIV infections in the Houston area, and encourage HIV infected individuals to seek treatment. We are reaching out to institutions of higher education that largely serve this age group to combat HIV stigma and confirm our dedication to knowledge and learning to this end.
