Please help meet my goal...

Many years ago, I made a promise to raise money for adults and children infected with HIV. I started fulfilling that promise fifteen years ago, when I began participating in the Houston AIDS Walk, which benefits AIDS Foundation Houston (AFH).
Each year that I have walked, I walked to honor various individuals. I’ve walked to honor the courage of friends who are battling HIV, the memory of friends who have lost that battle, and the example of those who encouraged and supported me in this work.
This year, I’m walking to honor the courage of children, kids who range from age 6 to 16, and kids who are infected with but are not diminished by HIV. I know these kids because, for the past ten years, I’ve had the honor of volunteering as a counselor for a week with them at Camp Hope.
In the beginning, Camp Hope was limited to kids from Houston and Dallas. Later, children from across the nation and other countries came to camp. Now, AFH sponsors a camp in Africa. What started as a camp for local children has now grown into camps that welcome children from around the world.
Wherever they are, these kids are amazing. They are infected with and are affected by HIV. But for at least one week each year, they are not “kids with a fatal disease.” They are just kids at camp.
Camp Hope is a gift. It is a gift to every kid who gets to come to camp, and it is a gift to me and my fellow counselors. But, it is not a gift that the kids or I can continue to enjoy without your support. That’s why I’m asking you to join me this year in supporting Camp Hope for these kids. You can help in one or two ways.
First, you can join me and my fellow volunteers on the Camp Hope Walk Team. If you would like to walk with us and help raise money, please register online to be part of the team and join us for this wonderful event on Sunday, March 14.

Just like the walk, my goal will be accomplished one step at a time. Your contribution will help these great kids have a better summer and a better life by helping continue the amazing work at Camp Hope. Thanks in advance for your generosity. The kids and I appreciate it.

Support My Efforts in AIDS Walk Houston

The 21st Annual AIDS Walk Houston will take place on Sunday, March 14. It is an exciting 5K walk event that raises money for HIV/AIDS initiatives throughout Houston, increases community awareness and educates Houstonians about HIV/AIDS.

Please assist me in reaching my fundraising goal or join our team. Now, more than ever, we need to join to fight this preventable disease that is affecting so many individuals in Houston and the world.
