Be The Cure - AIDS Walk Houston
Fundraising is paying off. Scientists may have found a cure & clinical trials have begun BE THE CURE! The 20th Annual AIDS Walk Houston will take place on Sunday, March 14. It is an exciting 5K walk event that raises money for HIV/AIDS initiatives throughout Houston, increases community awareness and educates Houstonians about HIV/AIDS.
Think HIV/AIDS can't affect you? Think again. Did you know that in the Houston metropolitan area 1 person is diagnosed every 8 hours? Did you know that 1 in 10 young boys have contracted this disease right here in America? This is no longer the disease for the druggies, prostitutes and gay men. Innocent men, women and children are dyeing. Has your child gotten a tattoo or a body piercing or had sex? They could already have HIV and not know it. Is your loved one receiving Chemo? They could be at risk too. Everyday activities we all must do leave us at risk (i.e., dental work, blood work, surgery). Has your spouse or boyfriend/girlfriend ever cheated? If the answer is yes then you too are at risk.
The next time you go to your child’s school look around at all the beautiful faces 1 in 10 will contract HIV. In a school of 1,000 students 100 will be infected. It could be your child. That is staggering news. You can help stop this. This problem is so devastating that our government is spending millions of dollars every year to try and stop the devastation. You can check the facts for yourself. This is a sleeping giant.
Please assist me in reaching my fundraising goal. Now, more than ever, we need to join to fight this preventable disease that is affecting so many individuals in Houston and the world.
Thank you!
