AIDS Foundation Houston also offers free testing in the community at various venues and events. Hours and locations will vary. Individuals seeking testing services are welcome. Based on the community need, please note that on site testing appointments may be limited or unavailable. Call 713-623-6796 for information on locations and times.
Protecting the rights and privacy of the community is very important to AIDS Foundation Houston, therefore, all testing is private and confidential (using identifying information such as name and contact information). If one chooses to test anonymously (using no name of identifying information) this is also available.
HIV rapid testing is performed by finger prick or oral swab with results available in as little as 60 seconds. Clients who want syphilis testing must provide a blood sample by venipuncture in order to collect a specimen for the test. If you receive a preliminary positive test for HIV, a confirmatory blood sample will be taken at the time of your visit by venipuncture. All blood samples given will be sent to the lab for further testing.
Individuals confirming a positive HIV test will receive counseling when test results are given as well as referrals to HIV services, including primary care services, education, case management, partner services and more.
